Thuraya al-Baqsami, a Leading Kuwaiti artist and writer, embarked on her creative journey in the mid-1960s, showcasing both her literary and artistic prowess as a teenager. During the Soviet era, she honed her skills in illustration at the Surikov Institute in Moscow and Cairo, later exploring diverse African landscapes.

The Iraqi-Kuwait war in 1990 profoundly impacted Thuraya and her family, influencing their creative expressions. In 1993, she received the State Prize for "Cellar Candles," a poignant book transforming wartime experiences into poetic reflections, now translated into over ten languages.

With a career spanning 25 years, Thuraya has contributed to over 250 group exhibitions, earning accolades for both her writing and art. Her masterpieces grace prestigious collections, including the British Museum, UNESCO Museum of Human Rights in Geneva, and the Kuwait National Museum. Thuraya al-Baqsami's narrative is a fusion of resilience, creativity, and global recognition.
